Breast Augmentation / Mammaplasty
Breast augmentation, or augmentation mammaplasty, enhances the size and shape of a woman’s breasts. Carefully tailored to each woman’s individual needs, this commonly performed procedure takes into account the woman’s size and stature as well as her preference for the post-surgical size and shape of her breasts. Women with sagging breasts frequently ask Dr. Bedford about undergoing a breast lift at the same time.
Patients desiring breast augmentation will begin with an initial consultation discussing their overall health as well as the various surgical techniques available to them, and with Dr. Bedford’s help, decide which is most appropriate for their particular situation.
When the surgery is performed, an incision is made under the crease below the breast, through the armpit, or around the areola (the darkened area surrounding the nipple). Then an implant is inserted and may be placed beneath the breast tissue or under the chest wall muscle. Care is taken to keep the incision scar’s appearance as subdued as possible.
Whether a woman desires to enlarge her breast size, correct genetically misshapen breasts, or enhance her appearance after pregnancy and breastfeeding, our team of professionals can bring those goals to reality.
