A Doctor Who Understands Women...

I am a Registered Nurse who, while living Texas, had a modified radical mastectomy of the right breast in 1989, due to cancer, with reconstruction in 1991.  (2 surgeries) The reconstruction was a disaster in that I still continued to look deformed, had great difficulty with clothing and had very low self esteem.  

We moved to Atlanta three years later where I located a Plastic Surgeon who provided the second step of the Tram flap procedure involving my hips only. This surgery was a success. (3rd surgery)  In 2005 I was lucky to find another Plastic Surgeon who was willing to attempt a correction of the 1991 right breast reconstruction.  (4th surgery)  This attempt went fairly well but would require further surgery(ies) to bring both breasts into a more normal sphere. 

I was extremely disheartened.  How much more surgery would it take? Then I found Dr Bedford. 

Dr Bedford listened to what I wanted physically and my need for continued surgery to end.  She shared pictures with me to clarify the difference between what I thought I wanted versus what she was recommending. I elected her surgical recommendation as it really was what I wanted and made sense. Dr Bedford performed surgery with a left breast reduction/revision and a right breast reconstruction/revision in 2010.  (5th surgery)  My breasts are similiar in size and attached level on my chest.  YEAH!! Me and my husband think I look great clothed or in the nude. I do not need any more surgery! 

I believe Dr Bedford did such a great job because she is an excellent plastic surgeon who is also a woman who understands what we woman want for our breasts.  She is woman who has to wear clothes like we do.  I believe that small fact makes all the difference in the world.

Woman to Woman Care...

From the minute the phone was answered at Dr. Bedford's office I knew I was in the right place. The nurse that initially saw me had just been through a bilateral mastectomy under Dr. Bedford's care about a year before, so she knew what a patient might be doing through both physically and emotionally.  

Dr. Bedford reviewed my history and past medical notes and when to great lengths to make sure they ordered the right "parts".  This made me feel like they were sincerely concerned about the outcome and sucess of my surgery.  

My personal opinion is that if you want your breast surgery patients to have the best overall experience in going through a tough time then you should send them to see Dr. Bedford.  I would insist that there is no comparison to the quality of care that the patient receives.  There is just something about woman to woman care that offers some reassurance and understanding.

Truly Cares About Her Patients...

Dr. Bedford did my augmentation 5 months ago and I could not be happier with the results. My goal was to have a natural appearing enhancement and Dr. Bedford worked with me toward that goal from the beginning. She spent a great deal of time with me during my consultation discussing the surgery and helped me to pick the right implant for my body type.

The on site surgical sweet was a private and comfortable setting for the day of my surgery, and everyone involved made me feel at ease.

My recovery went smoothly and I was always easily able to get a hold of Dr. Bedford or her staff if I had any questions.

5 months later, I have the results I was hoping for. I would highly recommend Dr. Bedford and her staff to anyone as she is not only an excellent surgeon but she also has a great bedside manner and truly cares about her patients.
